A brief description of the Event:

The HOTELIA 2014 International Exhibition is the only hotel equipment exhibition held in North Greece and aims at bringing sector professionals closer to hoteliers and tourism professionals. Exhibitors participating in HOTELIA 2014 benefited from the presence of thousands of tourism professionals who were attending the 30th PHILOXENIA, the top tourism exhibition in the country, which was being held concurrently.

The main goals of the event were: high visitor numbers, establishment of the international character of the exhibition through the increased participation of hosted buyers, targeted promotion of the exhibition both in Greece and abroad.

The priorities of HOTELIA 2014 were: The strengthening of the extroversion of domestic hotel equipment and constructions enterprises through the dynamic presence of hosted buyers, the realisation of new commercial partnerships and agreements for exhibitors, the presentation of the latest and most innovative technologies in the fields of construction, energy-saving and renovation of hotel units.

Indicative Results of an Exhibitor and Visitor Survey:

When the Hosted Buyers were asked to grade the Organisation of Hotelia 2014 on a scale of 1 to 10, an overwhelming percentage of 73.34% graded the Exhibition as very good, with 7, 8 and 9, and a percentage of 13.33% graded it as excellent, with 10. Lower grades were given by low to negligible percentages. More specifically, the results of the grades provided for Hotelia 2014 are presented in the chart below.

As regards the degree of achievement of the initial goals set by the Exhibitors for their participation in ‘Hotelia 2014’, the general picture indicates very good and good satisfaction of these goals. More specifically, the goal of information (for the Exhibitors to receive and provide information) exhibits high satisfaction percentages, with 69.7% of Exhibitors considering it very good and good. A significant percentage of 5.4% also consider it excellent, 23.2% of Exhibitors consider the extent of success to be average, while the percentage that do not believe the goal was achieved at all is just 1.8%.

A percentage of 71.4% consider that the goal of promoting their enterprise was achieved to a very good and good extent, while 7.1% consider that it was achieved to an excellent extent. At the same time, a percentage of 19.6% consider the extent of success to be average. On the contrary, the percentage of Exhibitors who do not believe this goal was achieved at all is just 1.8%.

The goal of creating contacts in order to achieve orders from new customers also exhibits high satisfaction percentages that are equal to those of other goals. Thus, 67.3% of Exhibitors consider that this goal was achieved to a very good and good extent. A significant percentage of 7.3% consider that this goal was achieved to an excellent extent, 20.0% consider that this goal was achieved to an average extent, while 5.4% consider that this goal was not achieved at all.

The goal of renewing contacts with old customers also exhibits a very good satisfaction extent, with 45.8% of Exhibitors believing that it was achieved to a very good and good extent, while a small percentage of 2.1% believe this goal was achieved to an excellent extent. A significant percentage of Exhibitors (43.7%) believe this goal was achieved to an average extent, while 8.4% believe that this goal was not achieved at all. More specifically, the extent of accomplishment of the goals set by Exhibitors at Hotelia 2014 is presented in the following chart.

50.0% of Exhibitors intend to participate in the next Event and 50.0% may participate in the next Event. The percentage of Exhibitors who do not intend to participate in the next HOTELIA (2015) is zero. The main reasons cited by Exhibitors who are not certain about participating in the next Hotelia are the following: inadequate organisation, late provision of information to Exhibitors regarding the realisation of the event, low visitor numbers and inadequate advertising.

96.0% of the Exhibitors who participated in HOTELIA believe that their participation in the Exhibition will result in additional activity for their enterprise in the future (after the Exhibition has ended), while only 4.0% believe the opposite.

It is noteworthy that 25.0% of Visitors concluded commercial agreements during the Exhibition. This figure is quite important, particularly during this period of intense economic recession.

The countries of origin of Hosted Buyers vary. More specifically, of the countries chosen by the Organiser to attract Hosted Buyers, Cyprus concentrated the highest percentage (53.33 %). The countries of origin of Hosted Buyers at Hotelia 2014 are presented in detail in the chart below.

The meetings between Hosted Buyers and Exhibitors at HOTELIA 2014 were also a great success. A very large percentage of the appointments booked by the Organiser were held and the results of these meetings are deemed to be positive, according to the Hosted Buyers themselves. More specifically, 100.0% of Hosted Buyers deemed them as fruitful, a very high percentage for the Exhibition.
